This project aimed to explore the experiences of those who have been in contact with the criminal justice system, through the lens of mental health. The work was designed and co-produced with consultants who have lived experience of the criminal justice system and training in research. It featured three methodological elements: (1) telephone interviews; (2) letter/email correspondence; and (3) the creative project. The rationale for this approach was to reach as many people as possible, including those in prison and those who had completed their licence.
